My mother took out a reverse mortgage on a home she had lived in for over 35 years, during this time my mother was in and out of the hospital and nursing centers. After a stroke we were told she had to have 24- hour nursing care and we would have to sell the house. The Reverse mortgages were easy to get but as we experienced very hard to sell in the recent economy.

I asked Cheryl if she would assist us in the sale of the home, which I thought this would be relatively easy but it was not, Bank of America rejected the asking price from the buyer from the start. They then decided on a short sale which could have taken months, my mom's house needed to be out of her hands by months end for her to get any assistance. Cheryl worked on this feverishly. Bank of America gave us the run around, finally settling and asking my mother to pay over 8,000 in closing cost. Using her many contacts Cheryl was able to cut through the bureaucracy and contact a person in their loan department and when that answer did not satisfy the situation, she was able to consult with their legal department and a loan manager and our short sale was entered into within weeks.

Other Real Estate agents told me it has taken them 3 - 6 months dealing with short sales and the fees were usually passed on to the seller. They were very impressed at what Cheryl was able to accomplish. I believe my mother would have used up the rest of her savings in fee if Cheryl had not taken no for answer, her persistence got the house sold and lifted a burden off of our shoulders.

Cheryl has a unique knack for instinctively understanding her clients' specific needs and applying that understanding to ensure the smoothest possible process. we recently sold our condominium in Alexandria VA. We had not lived in the condo for over two years having moved to Tennessee in 2022, and rented the condo out since that time. Cheryl helped us tremendously since we no longer lived in the area. She made sure the condo was in tip-top shape, making sure every detail was up to snuff. she handled everything from having the cabinetry touched up to removed dents and scratches, painting the entire unit, refinishing the bathroom so that all fixtures looked brand new and all this while ensuring all the normal details a real estate agent is responsible for were completed. Cheryl went above and beyond the call of duty, again and again, in the sale of the home in which my brothers and I grew up. Cheryl apparently has a gift for working with adult siblings who are dealing with the challenging emotions of saying goodbye to their childhood home. When we first engaged Cheryl, the house, built in the l 930's and not updated since the 60's, seemed to be an impossible distance from ready to market. But selling a home is emotional, especially when it has been in your family for 60 years and you are the adult child in charge of the estate. I didn't know how I could do it. I was stuck. I met Cheryl because she was selling my next door neighbor's home. She was childhood friends with the adult children in my very same situation. I liked her positive outgoing personality immediately and the fact that she was an Alexandria native (like me) was a bonus. Later I learned that her grandparents once owned a furniture store in Old Town who lived in a beautiful home on top of a hill which is now the Del Ray Baptist Church across from the Alexandria Country Day School. She doesn't brag about it but it is fun to hear her stories about places and people in Alexandria. So Cheryl is a great realtor and knows Alexandria ... but that is still not what sets her apart. I honestly call Cheryl my angel realtor. There is no way I could have gone through the emotionally retching process of dismantling, upgrading, staging and selling my parents' home without her. She understood how hard it was for me and when it was time (and with my permission of course) she hired contractors and just took over the packing, upgrading, painting and staging of the house (to my delight). Yes, I wanted a fair price (which I got) but I also wanted to attract owners who would really love my family home. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! It sold in one day and I love the new owners.
